Benjamin initially qualified as a solicitor and has worked for several local firms, including Lockings, Rradar, and Hudgells. He practiced in regional firms acting for private individuals, companies, and insurers and was in-house solicitor for FTSE-listed PLCs and charities. He transferred to the Bar in October 2024.

Civil Law
Chancery: complex contractual disputes, mortgage and land issues, joint ownership matters alongside handling landlord-tenant conflicts and ToLATA cases. His expertise extends to intricate matters involving insolvency and bankruptcy. He attended more than 450 hearings whilst acting as a qualified Advocate for LPC Advocacy, including Winding Ups, LPA Receiverships and bankruptcy petitions from London to Newcastle. His proficiency in commercial litigation is well-regarded, particularly in cases involving commercial insolvency, and he taught Company Law and Practice, including Corporate Insolvency, at Leeds Trinity on the LL.M. Benjamin also accepts instructions in Employment and professional negligence matters.

 

Personal Injury/Health and Safety: Benjamin’s injury practice is marked by his adept handling of high-value cases, particularly those with overseas elements. Previous cases include high-profile incidents such as life-changing injuries to a child in Egypt, leading to risk of epilepsy and neurological conditions, sexual assaults by resort staff, and complex cases of employee exposure to toxic substances and the causation of cancers. He has vast experience with workplace claims, including respiratory, hearing loss, and vibration injuries. His experience spans various sectors, including railways, mining, military service, and agriculture, where he has acted for injured parties and has defended companies against allegations of safety breaches.

 

Aviation/Admiralty/Travel: Benjamin is instructed on behalf of airlines to defend Regulation 261 claims, for claimants and defendants in claims under the Package Travel Regulations 2018, and for both parties for claims under SOLAS, the Merchant Shipping Acts, and the Merchant Shipping and Fishing Vessels (Health and Safety at Work) Regulations 1997. Benjamin has also been appointed as a Panel Member for the Disciplinary Tribunal of the Royal Yachting Association.

Financial Remedies

Benjamin is able to assist with First Directions Appointments, FDRs and Final Hearings, and undertakes high-profile and complex work, often sitting in final hearings dealing with assets over £2 million, and hearings lasting 5-10 days. Benjamin is a nominated judge of the Financial Remedies Court, predominantly sitting in the South-East, including the Central London Family Court and the RCJ. Benjamin has been involved in complex cases with jurisdictional and intestacy issues, and applications under s.37 Matrimonial Causes Act 1973, and Schedule 1, Children Act 1989.
