Connor’s family practice is focused on serious children work, where the consequences for families are immediate and often life-changing. He acts for local authorities, parents, wider family members and children through their Guardians in both private and public law proceedings, including cases involving grave allegations and difficult welfare decisions. He is reliably instructed in matters where the evidence must be tested with care and the human impact of the case remains central throughout.
Connor continues to be instructed in substantial public law cases involving serious safeguarding concerns and finely balanced welfare decisions. His recent work includes proceedings concerning:
Intra-familial sexual abuse;
Terrorism offences and radicalisation
Marital rape;
Domestic Violence;
Substance misuse and addiction; and
Learning difference.
He is particularly well-suited to cases where careful preparation and focused cross-examination are needed to test serious allegations and identify the issues that truly determine risk.
In KUHCC v H & Ors [2024], Connor acted for the mother in care proceedings concerning four children. Despite opposition from the Local Authority, the Children’s Guardian and both respondent fathers, he secured a contested fact-finding hearing. Following cross-examination, the court made findings that one father had been involved in drug dealing and had exposed a child to drug-related activity, which proved central to the welfare analysis. The children ultimately remained in their mother’s care, with safeguarding measures in place.
In private law, Connor is experienced in cases where family proceedings cross borders and require urgent, careful advocacy. In F v S [2025], he represented the mother in proceedings arising from a long-running international family dispute involving earlier litigation in Russia, allegations of child abduction and a Hague Convention application. Following extensive cross-examination, the father’s applications were dismissed, and a section 91(14) order was made in the mother’s favour.
His family work is strengthened by the forensic discipline of his criminal practice. He combines firm and measured advocacy with clear, practical advice and is valued for making sensitive and high-pressure proceedings feel more manageable for those involved. He also accepts instructions in other matters relating to relationship breakdown, including domestic violence injunctions.
