Connor Stuart secures suspended sentence in stalking case involving claims of witchcraft.

Connor Stuart secured a suspended sentence for a defendant following a guilty plea to stalking causing serious alarm or distress.

The offence arose from a sustained course of conduct between July and September 2025, during which the defendant repeatedly attended the complainant’s home, sent numerous messages, and caused significant distress. The defendant’s behaviour escalated to late-night visits, shouting outside the address, and persistent attempts to make contact.

The defendant exhibited increasingly irrational beliefs, accusing the complainant of witchcraft and black magic which he claimed had directly influenced his behaviour. He also stated that he carried a knife for protection from wolves and foxes in the streets.

The court noted the persistence of the conduct and the psychological harm caused, alongside the fact that some offending took place whilst on bail. Nevertheless, a suspended sentence of imprisonment was imposed, together with a restraining order.

Connor Stuart was instructed by Julia Bokszanska of the Johnson Partnership.
