Oliver Shipley mitigates two year sentence for Class A PWITS

Pupil Barrister Oliver Shipley represented a defendant who was committed for sentence for possession with intent to supply class A drugs.

The defendant had built up a substantial drug debt and had been forced back into dealing drugs by a gang's threat of harm and to firebomb his mother's house in order to pay off the debt.

After hearing Mr Shipley's submissions and his significant mitigation on behalf of the defendant, Recorder Giuliani sentenced the defendant to two years in custody, the defendant having already served six months on remand.
