Success for Nick Peacock in the Court of Appeal Criminal Division

Nick Peacock appeared in the Court of Appeal on the 1st July 2025 in respect of an appeal of sentence. The appellant had been sentenced after trial on 2 counts of rape of a child under 13 to 11 years immediate imprisonment and a further 4 years consecutive in respect of an offence of assault by penetration, making 15 years in all.

The Court of Appeal agreed with Nick’s submissions and quashed the original sentences substituting 7 year terms for each of the rapes and 3 years consecutive for the offence of assault by penetration.

In effect therefore the Court reduced the original custodial term by 5 years.
