Amber Hobson achieves suspended sentence for defendant at Grimsby Crown Court

Defendant in the case had defrauded her then partner out of £7,200. She met her partner after creating a fictious tinder profile as “Danielle” and arranging a date, which the defendant attended as the “friend of Danielle”. After forming a relationship she continued to use the Danielle profile, asking for money from the complainant including £5000 to purchase a house. The prosecution opened the case as a starting point of 3 years for the Fraud and 4 and a half years for Making an Article to use in Fraud (a fake mortgage document).

After hearing mitigation and submissions on the sentencing guideline, the court passed a suspended sentence of 2 years, suspended for 2 years, with 30 RAR days and 300 UPW hours.
